July is National Peach Month

Did you know July is National Peach Month?

In 1982, President Ronald Reagan signed a proclamation marking July as National Peach Month. In his proclamation, Reagan called “upon the people of the United States to incorporate this nutritious fruit into their diets, and call upon interested groups to celebrate this month with appropriate programs and activities.”

The Lexington County Peach Festival takes celebrating the peach seriously. Every July, during the Peach Festival, we serve up fresh homemade peach desserts such as Peach Cobbler, Peach Tea, Peach Delights, and Peach Slush. You can also find premium Peach Ice Cream to help cool off during our Famously Hot South Carolina summer. The Festival also showcases a smattering of additional activities such as an Antique Car Show, the Peach Parade, Live Music, Art & Craft Vendors, and of course, a fireworks show.

We’d like to think the President would be proud of our “appropriate programs and activities.”

We hope to see you out at the next Lexington County Peach Festival in Gilbert!
